UI/UX of Mobile App - Azad Mandi
Building Digitalised Platform for F2B to B2B to B2C
I was asked to create a new approach for buying/selling fruits and vegetables at Azadpur Mandi through a Mobile App.

Research
What does the old landscape looks like?
Current landscape

Farmers Side (F2B)
Over half of the farmers we interacted with (57%) are unhappy with the mandi system of sale.
Sales Process
The sales process in mandis is regulated through commission agents (CAs) who mediate between the farmers and traders.
Pricing
Lower price realisation, lack of transparency in the trading process, collusion among traders, price cartelisation & delay in payments
Dependency
Most farmers depend on CAs for credit, price information, transportation and storage.
Traders to Shopkeepers (B2B)
Volatile market and Opaque pricing, Requires physical Presence.
Shopkeepers to Customers (B2C)
Inconsistent Quality, Price and Service.
The Solution
What does the new landscape looks like?
Weβre designing an integrated agriculture ecosystem!

To gives farmers more autonomy, clearer trading choices, and access to better pricing. This includes enabling direct sales between farmers, traders, and retailers, and building digital marketplaces that unify the entire value chain (F2B2B2C).
A digital platform where...
Farmers make more money
Connect directly to traders & retailers
Retailers & Traders find transparency
Connect to local and outstation markets
Consumers get value for money
Connect to specialised fruits & vegetables vendors
Wireframes
I sketched ideas and brainstormed various possibilities with stakeholders and created low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes to test.
Ideas to Action
I created working prototype of app in figma and went to the end users (farmers and Buyers) & collected the feedback, based on that i did multiple iterations to reach to the final flow of the app.
Login/Signup
We kept the login flow intentionally simple: users sign in using just their mobile number and an OTP verification.
Onboarding sellers
After a new customer logs in, they enter an onboarding flow where they add key business details β including shop information, item list, pricing, and stock levels.
Orders
Sellers can review buyer requests (Screens 01β02), start packing items (Screens 02β03), and mark each item as packed to maintain accuracy for bulk orders. Buyers get a clear order-tracking view on their side (Screen 04).
Sellers Profile
The profile section centralizes all key seller settings, including account details, KYC information, bank details, earnings overview, shop open/close controls, and wallet management.
Key Design Takeaways
Design must align with existing workflows
The proposed solution is built around real mandi operations, ensuring digital tools fit naturally into how buyers and sellers already work.
Transparency is critical for bulk trading
Item-level packing and order-status visibility were designed to reduce ambiguity and potential disputes in high-volume transactions.
Low cognitive load enables adoption
Simple flows, clear actions, and mobile-first interactions were prioritized to support users operating in fast-paced, on-ground environments.
